I would have settled for a rocky road.
Instead he promised me streets of gold.
When I didn't deserve an ounce of mercy
he came and he saved my soul.

Time after time I have let him down,
but he hasn't failed me yet.
While others love to hold a grudge
he loves to forget.

I would have settled for a passing glance.
Instead he claimed me as his own.
If anyone seeks me on the other side
I'll be prostrate by the throne.

I was shackled by the bonds of shame,
but set free by the gift of grace.
And it won't be long 'til, Praise the Lord,
I shall look upon that face.

The eyes that once cried tears of blood
shall be looking into mine.
And I will hear the voice of the one
who told the sun and stars to shine.

I will touch the feet of him
who on the water once did walk.
I'll sing 'Holy, Holy is the One'
who made the deaf and dumb to talk.

I would have settled for a rocky road
as long as it still led to him.
Instead he blessed me with eternity
in a land that n'er grows dim.

Very touching very true.  Keep signing God's praises.

TennesseeAngel~
This is so spiritually moving.

'While others love to hold a grudge
he loves to forget.'

Yes !  It is so !
I really like this, my friend.

You have captured the one love that we can all count on with true beauty and grace.  This is a lovely piece and a treasure to have read and hold onto.

although our faiths may differ, you truly left a beautiful tribute to the One you love and trust most. I hold a special respect for those people, like you, that can openly sing their praises to their higher power.great job!

There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.
