RAINS FLOWING QUIET NOW ... Dinner's end brings quiet's birth A time for reading -- A time for sharing To July's surprise Comes the shower of my waiting To the porch to enjoy the storm To the swing to rest my form Humid's cloud has risen The time to feel relax's somber call Raindrops Interrupt rhododendron's sleep Its leaves flapping Like so many birds of a feather Glistening flag With hummingbirds upon sewn Summer's banner Flies on wings of wind's breath But suddenly stilled By its watered weight As the wind curses it in vain Now the tapering gust Whistles through columns in a row Rivers of rain Flowing down streets of home All's quiet now Save for piano's soft song The back drop of my storm To be heard by all M.A. Miller 07.15.00 < !signature--> My calling before me, let quill be my offering; For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive. Beautiful. ______________ All's quiet now Save for piano's soft song The back drop of my storm ______________ I loved this poem. Keep writing, I'll keep reading. .*.*.*.Kay.*.*.*. Me too MA!! There's nothing like hearing the crash of the thunder and the brightness of the lightning. . . singing in nature's symphony. . . You have described it well here. . . Captured the storm on this one! Mmmm... can you smell the ozone? I'm sitting under a good one right now. And me without a porch... I enjoy your poetry and your different styles. This one was great. |

Many thanks again to all ... I wouldn't know how to act without a porch ... Thanks for noticing style breaks, Trew ... |
