The bravest man I ever knew battled my monsters late at night. As long as he said all was well I could sleep without the light. The strongest man I ever knew carried me on his shoulders tall. As long as he had a hold of me I knew I would never fall. The kindest man I ever knew always had a nice word to say. Every time some one crossed his path he felt the urge to brighten their day. The funniest man I ever knew always had something clever to say. He could tell the dumbest joke and people would laugh anyway. The smartest man I ever knew didn't spend much time in school. He had street smarts and common sense. His mama didn't raise no fool. Old age has left him far behind in a world that cherishes every thing new. But, in my heart, my dear dad is still the greatest man I ever knew. --You can either take me as I am...or you can watch me as I go.-- |
