In the winds of Cherokee song

            Abandoned Spring

Never had I basked in the Summer sun
With the warmth and vigor I received from you
When our love was fresh and had just begun
My heart for life was yours...
                      this I knew

Summer breezes left with coolness in the air
As the Autumn colors arrived set to unfold
Our radiant joy desserted and left in despair
When the forcast of your heart promised...
                      a love gone cold

Winter winds hurling across my heart
With blue hardness never before felt
Piercing my soul deep with ice-cycle darts
My life's blood slowing before you...
                      frozen I knelt

Long winter's powder of tears resting on the sill
Barren tundra of trust hybernating in my bed
Seeking shelter from the cascading chill
Rejoicing in the dreams now lost...
                      in tears I've shed

What happened to the now abandoned Spring
Where petals of color rise to the butterflies dance
And the trees bow as the mockingbirds sing
Winds weeping in swirls of joy...
as new life is given a chance

Mark - this is a great read - I like the pause in the last line of each verse - it sets a very good counterpoint to the season descriptions.  Great idea - and you ran with it very well.
