Today bit
like a mangy blue-gummed dog.
It sucked, was rank,
it smelled of hogs.

60 second agonies
ticking by with no relief...
Poe's pendulum never had
such capacity to drive one mad!

I'm on the ledge--
below--the street...
but NOW I look
before I leap!
I have to smile.
I shake my head.
Alive, I am
already dead.
(LOL, as I retreat...)

And if you still
do not believe--
I know a ledge--
                    b
                    e
                    l
                    ow!--the street...

*a little dark humor, anyone?  with a wink and a nod to all the good people of the forum..."*

Did someone else have a day

      I enjoy your work!!

Oh, if you only knew how close this is to the truth about my day, my life in the past two months.....court hearings, an ugly custody battle, hateful, spiteful people waging an all-out war....it's enough to drive me mad. (And the reason I haven't been here much lately.)  But then I read your peom, and realize that I'm not the only one having the bad day--which makes things just a little more bearable, in a twisted sort of way.  Thanks, Serenity, for this great poem.

...It smelled of hogs...
This is wonderful "cos now when i have a bad day i can quote that first verse to my enemies!
..60 second agonies..
That is so true.
I'm a new poet and i'm learning from you Serenity and everyone else here.
Thank you.

Best wishes

Cool poem, I enjoyed reading it . It inspired me to write this ...

Leap of faith

Leaping isn't hard you know,
Endurance you need not show,
And when you hit that hard rock floor,
Possibly you'll jump no more .

I know, quite lame but I have really got into the flow of doing acrostics recently .
An Inspiration as always .

quite a cvlever verse. you're helping me to chuckle away the early morning blues. (to me 9:45 am is very early.) i like the allusion to Poe too.

If god's word goes unspoken,
then the music plays all night."
