A voice though heard
rings undefined

to fall a
phrase or
perhaps a word
touched, lightly
here

A smile it brings
a pain, a laugh
to sing in nights
of lonely dream
music

to ears of past refrain

heeded not
nay – sight un(seen)
an aching hope it cries
in pliant need
to carry peals of flow
in form to whole

to cry, to know

Afloat ‘pon currents
might and meek
voice of
one dimensional
fathoms deep

to crash the cliffs
of empty faces

alone
    awaiting
understanding

Satiate this is very beautiful even though the words seem steeped in sadness. a wonderful poem.

Beautifully spoken.
I love it.

I'm not sure anyone ever truly "understands" - nor am I sure understanding would be all it is cracked up to be.  All I can say is I can truly identify with the emotion behind this one, Nicole. "To crash the cliffs of empty faces" -- sigh!!!

Wonderfully done...

Well now ms. Nic... I'm thinkin' back to a time when you told me that you couldn't write free verse. Yep, got agree with you, you can't write it. But you breathe it damn well!
