Barefoot in the graveyard
pulling weeds
and whitewash stone
placing crystal pebbles
and planting seeds
of hope
in the dirt--
moss hanging
from the giant oak
cool breezes
and iris wild,
braiding flowers
and arms spread
shouting to a dark bayou
tribute to forgotten dead--
remembering ourselves...
forgetting our regret.

This so down to earth (no pun intended) and in touch with the reality of our precious years.
We do indeed forget
so final is this death
those who brought us
to our knees
those who whisper
in the breeze.
Beyond the graveyard
beyond the soul
those who left us
in this role.
We do indeed forget
to whom we owe a debt.

Very well done!! Loved it!

very well done, and a great tribute indeed to the nameless who made the differences. i like the last line very much. "forgetting our regret". indeed.

Today, they walk. . .

They're out there. . . walking. . . or is that us?

Superb my friend. . .

I have to ditto the others when I say this is "hauntingly beautiful" and you really should submit this for the book.  You got my vote if you do.
