Hummin’

Gonna get me a brand new Hummer,
Taxi-yellow or maybe day-glow green,
Hittin’ the road for the rest of summer,
In my civilian military machine.

Come Friday, I’ll be leaving this city,
This new model only cost eighty grand,
Just you, me and my Humvee,
Eight thousand pounds at my command.

Passin’ metal by in a flash of sun,
If traffic grinds down to gridlock
Gonna drive this baby like I’m on the run,
If you don’t like it, you can always walk.

Equipped with night vision, bullet-proof glass,
Over hills and mountains, rollin' off-road
Plenty of power and built to last,
No slowing down even with a full load.

When we get tired, we can bunk in the back,
Just ‘cuz I drive wild, don’t mean I’m fast,
I’d be thinkin’ twice if you mean to attack,
‘Cuz my Humvee will dump your a** fast.

But if you’re real nice, you can ride shotgun,
I may or may not, depending on the day,
Let you take her out for a dry run,
I might even let you have your way.

So crank up the tunes, slide down the top,
Riding the back roads till we drop.

Wanna take me for a ride, Corinne? I don't drive, so you don't have to worry 'bout me crashing it. LOL Nice work.

....

I am now given to imagination,
Images of you driving wildly, albeit at
Snail's pace, yet tearing the road apart,
But like the tale of the turtle and the hare,
The tortoise wins again....

nice poem... Corinne...
regards, sudhir.
P.S. I dunno if this is meant to be humorous, but the dunce that I am, I found this to be hilarious...
