Picturesque You Stand |

There she sits upon the shelf untouched. Behind glass doors of the china hutch. Her crystal blue eyes adorn her porcelain face. Dressed in silk and satin and Venetian Lace. No little hands will brush her hair. Nor precious secrets will she share. Upon a pedestal she will remain Like a princess, to fulfill her reign. While here I lay upon the bed. Dressed in patches of gingham red. Attending tea parties and dragged through the park. Held tight by a child, afraid of the dark. No beauty does my face behold. But love's been given ten times fold. Though picturesque you stand, complete with parasol. I am so glad, that I am just an old rag doll. |

Thank you JulieAnn. I didn't mean it to be sad. It was just an analogy of two types of dolls. |

Eloise~ This is such a charming poem. Touches the memories of my childhood days. All the 'La Dee Dah' dolls on the shelf didn't hold a candle to my much-loved 'raggedy' .... Thank you for this lovely treasure. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Kit, thank you so much. Yes I'd rather be that ragdoll too. Marge, it's always great to go back to those childhood days. Those raggedy dolls were obviously raggedy for a reason, with all the love that they received. Thanks. Denise, I would be honored for you to print it and give it to your granddaughter. I hope she likes it. Thank you. |

this was a very well crafted poem! the images were exquisite and the poignant feeling undeniable. I truly enjoyed this, it made me think of the Raggedy Ann doll I bought for my daughter 25 years ago! Kathleen |

Irish Rose, I'm glad you liked this. I think we all, at one time, had that special raggedy doll. Well perhaps not all the guys! LOL Tracie, thank you for reading and appreciate you commenting. Thank you BDC. The thought came to me while dusting the shelf where my daughter has kept her porcelain doll just sitting for many years untouched but pretty to look at. |
