A Secret I’ve been looking back in time To a place colonized by loss Where no ray of light shines And Dreams are empty spaces. Something triggered these images, I wonder who this girl was Wallowing deep on the dark side As though depression were romantic. Just a girl with a secret, nothing unique, World falling down around her, Tormented by teen madness Thinking recklessness cool, Twirling ever downward Lucky the pit wasn’t bottomless. Now I see NOT how easy it would have been But how hard it really is. © ’00 Corinne Bailey |
