Not long ago when they were small We put the marks upon the wall, To show how much that they had grown. How quickly now those years have flown. From baby booties to walking shoes. From toddler naps to a teenage snooze. The homework, cars and the dating phase. Special are the memories of those days. In my mind I still can hear Their laughter and their tears. Sometimes those growing years weren't fun. But still I cherish every one. The circle of youth goes round and round. And in our place they now are found. Children of their own, so small, As they place the marks upon their wall. |

Oh Eloise this brought back a flood of memories for me. As young one's my parents put marks against the wall to mark our heights as well and now too the gradchildren line up to see how they are progressing and then we compare them to us at the same ages. This was very visual and a wonderful read for me...thanks Eloise. Tracie~ Love is the life of the soul... It is the harmony of the universe |

Eloise~ What a nostalgic memory-shaker this is. Tenderly done .... My father used a board attached to the wall to 'pencil us in' when we were growing. When we moved he would take the board down and move it with us. When my children were growing up, I did the same. The 'yardstick' of their years hangs in the family home along with the 'pencil' board of my youth. Thanks for sharing this. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

This gave me chills -- it seems an impossibility that my two, 4 and 5, will ever be anything but the youthful imps they are right now. And yet, only a few short years ago, I can remember thinking the same about them being babes-in-arms ... sigh. ** Note to the Wizard Carnell: We need a "wistful" emoticon ... ** This touched me in a tender place, Eloise. Thank you. --Kess YOUR LIFE IS A TEST It is only a test ... If this were your Actual Life, you would have been given better instructions! |

Kess, enjoy them while they are young as they grow so fast. However, even when they are grown they are still a joy. Denise, somehow I just knew that you would like this one. Thanks. |
