Hi guys. I've been on this poetry kick lately and thought I'd post a few of mine to see what people think. This one is straight from the heart. It's written for my best friend, Andrew, who struggles with depression. He's been on and off of medications for the past four years and no one can figure out what to do for him anymore. I know his problems would be lessened so much if he'd let God into his life, but he just can't get himself to do that. That's why I wrote this poem, because I need to learn to give him up to the Lord and let the Lord work in his life instead of me trying to take care of him. Also, I just graduated from high school and will be leaving in two months for college, so I need to trust God to take care of him when I can't be by his side. It's actually more of a song than a poem, but let me know what you think. ~Giving you to Jesus~ I look into your eyes and I try to understand All the pain you hold inside and the tremble in your hand. I want you to trust, and I want you to hold on But there's just a few months left, and then I'll be gone. So I'm giving you to Jesus, yes I'm lifting up my hands. For it's only He who can take care of you, only He that understands As hard as it is to let you go, it's easier cause I know That the Lord with guard your path and keep you safe. When I think about these times we've shared a tear comes to my eye. Because I've loved you more than anyone and I can't decide why Each night I fall upon my knees and I weep and I pray I can't help you on my own, good friend, so now it's time to say That I'm giving you to Jesus, yes I'm lifting up my hands For it's only He who can take care of you, only He that understands As hard as it is to let you go, it's easier cause I know That the Lord will guard your path and keep you safe. When you are in pain, oh how my heart aches too And if I only could I would take this pain from you But there's One who loves you who's already paid the fee And if you would take His hand, you could share this joy with me! That's why I'm giving you to Jesus, yes I'm lifting up my hands For it's only He who can take care of you, only He that understands As hard as it is to let you go, it's easier cause I know That the Lord will guard your path and keep you safe. |

Great first post. I can relate to that situation because me best friend has had depression for the past three years. I understand, eventually you reach a point where you know you cna't help them, noone can b/c it's up to God. Crystal Maybe God has us meet a few wrong people so that when we meet the right one we can truly appreciate the gift. |

Welcome to Passions!! I can very well relate to your situation b/c a good friend of mine is suicidal. It's so hard b/c I want to help her but it's like nothing I say or do makes a difference in her mind. I wrote a poem for her a few months ago and think I will post it. It's called Forever Remembrance, and I'd really appreciate it if you would read it. Anyways, God will always lead you to the right path and hopefully your friend will follow it.
