So I stand before you, My eyes the benchmark of sorrow. I lower my head in a silent prayer, Hoping that this you will hear: Dear God please give just this chance, Make him see how I feel, I not too comfortable here about approaching romance. So slowly I kneel, At the pedestal of hope, That your heart I might steal, Under the light of day instead of the shadows of night. So I tell you how I feel, And yet my idol has failed me somehow, Seems I don't have the appeal, Seems I haven't made the right sacrifices by now. So I enter the tomb of hopelessness and despair, Over a feeling on your end that's just not there. "The worst of what people do to one another is deceive. Because when you love someone you control their version of reality. If you lie to them that's like making them autistic so that what they believe is reality is in fact, not their true situation at all." It's not the angry words that break the heart, it's the silence. Someone said that true love is like a ghost -- often spoke of but never seen. I've seen both and yet in my darkest hours, tend to believe that neither exits. |

God always answers prayers. He answers in three ways: "Yes", "No", or "Wait". Maybe He wants you to wait a little longer before you get what you deserve. This way, you will appreciate it all the more. Good poem. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

I really like this poem...I think we all know what it's like to feel forsaken and alone, but I've never read a poem on it before. I think we all just need to remember that even if our prayers weren't answered, God was still listening. If he didn't grant your prayer, than maybe you were just praying for the wrong thing. Anyhoo, great job, I look forward to more of your work ~~~Kandi/Kris ~*All that I have found in reason is reason just to not believe *~ ~*Things you see the way you see them will never be seen again*~ |

seems that you have quite an idea of what things should be like. I'm sure God will find it in his own way to show you what you are looking for. Nicely written poem! I love the way you put this: "So I tell you how I feel, And yet my idol has failed me somehow, Seems I don't have the appeal,Seems I haven't made the right sacrifices by now." Wonderful! keep posting! Love Always~*~Jessica~*~ "Love is the product of our discontentment with ourselves." I like this quite a bit. You chose an interesting topic and expressed yourself very well. God is always listening and he will always answer your prayers, but sometimes you've got to look deeper to find the answers. They're there, you just have to find them and use them the right way. Good luck and I hope your next poem will be about finding those answers. Keep writing! ~<3 Alwayz~ **Nikki** |

Awesome poem!! I know exactly how you feel... prayer can be frustrating... but you've just got to keep pushing on through and praying faithfully. Sometimes God answers prayers in ways we'd never expect him to, as well, so be prepared for that possibility, too! Keep writing from the heart!!! |

y all, thanks for the great replies. While this poem was partially about prayer for something seemingly unattainable it was meant on many levels. For example, I was also trying to get people to understand what it's like to want to be with someone so bad that you almost beg and plead with that person. Or what it's like to want to change yourself into something that this person wants. Kind of stupid I know but at the same time I suppose it's something everyone goes through to some extent or another. Love, Crystal Maybe God has us meet a few wrong people so that when we meet the right one we can truly appreciate the gift. |
