What good are they when they only seek the ugly marrow of a lifeless lie? I chew my bone behind the monotone shade of grey she slowly bleaches black. A grizzled taste in mouth I'll speak My toxin tongue spits my foul obscenities in all directions. I am a victim to aimless shadows closing in I can not see faces, only sense the walls tightening the noise with out apparent source rises. This torture of my black box, I hate you Creator. Call him merciful, honour his love I deem him whore. I have been the bright little one cleansed and repentant, no naughty things slipped from me, I cherished the beauties then one day I woke…. And I could no longer see. ---------- repost from open 7, response to Isis' challenge about loss of sight. Speaking of which it almost happened to me, I was painting with some chemical did something stupid and some of it splashed on my face just missed my left eye. So I almost lost an eye. why must we pray screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith |

Brian...Nice work. I can only imagine the anguish at being blind. I suppose circumstances might determine some of our feelings..but anger would surely predominate. Sorry I missed the challenge. Hardrock |

Intense poem, Brian. Really vivid. You have some excellent use of language: my toxin tongue I wish I'd have thought of that. Still wish I could hear you reading your stuff! Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo |

Isis, totally agree. It is only after my accident (see foot note) that I can appreciate the words of my poem. Thanks again for setting the challenge and for your lovely response. lotharingia, I don't know if my some what gentle voice would convey the anger of this poem. Thanks for your wonderful reply. why must we pray screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith |

Brian, I have been back to this poem about 6 times, and I can't come up with the right words to express my thoughts on it. Intense is not enough..Awesome? I don't know, but something about the way you put it, and the anger towards God-just knocked me out I guess. Great poem. Cat... |

Jamie, thanks for your kind words. Cat, I thought of how i would feel if I were blind these were my thoughts, and I guess I would be angry at God. Been blind is something I can't even comprehend. Thank you for your wonderful comments. why must we pray screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith |
