CHOSEN PATH: Things come, things go Waters rise, rivers flow From in the earth a rich resource Once broken, now in verse A tiny bubble bursts through Birthing life, waters new How is it that ne'er we see The glorious life, abundantly? A fish swims past my feet A nibble: returned my friendly greet One by one the rocks are moved As I wade through pools I choose. (This was essentially inspired by the literal nature described here, yet it's meaning is symbolic, and I'd like to know what people think it symbolises Sylvia) |

I think this poem symbolizes life. Maybe the fish symbolizes some types of people who can be "assholes" pardon my language. A fish swims past my feet A nibble: returned my friendly greet Perhaps the use of images like those of the things coming and going, and the rivers flowing, symbolize the passage of time. Maybe it has to do with the natural order of things that is not disturbed by what happens. Then again, I am speculating, which is something that my english literature teacher always told me NEVER to do... |

I agree with fractal to a point. My perspective is that it symbolizes your life, with its flow, you overcoming obstacles (the rocks) and making decisions about your life (the pools you choose). As for the fish...has to be some men in your life. After all, we're all suckers trying to keep from getting caught (sorry, I couldn't resist). Hardrock |

My take is that life is forever changing around us, sometimes we help along the movement, but it happens anyways, and if we can't change something sometimes it helps to try and change how we feel about it. I really enjoyed this one!! |

I'm a dying romantic and when i can no longer write i can no longer live -Jeremiah Johnson- |

Thanks friends for your time and kind comments; I will be "finishing" this one shortly. (the story behind it at least) |
