The candle burns at both ends
Two flames flickering
Racing to embrace each other
Slowly melting away to nothing

Black wisps of smoke rise up
Twin ghostly columns paired in despair
Scribing words in stains of black upon the ceiling
cryptic, legible only to me

Love is choking me
Taking all the oxygen
It feeds and burns
Flames tickle memories

Photographs curl black on edges
Ashes crumble to gray
Dreams wisp away
And the candle still burns

Slowly the flames meet
Hesitant to consume each other
Then share the last of the wick
Snuffing out at last

Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. R. fox

A great read......simply great!
I loved every word of it!

"I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust."

I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them!
