Saturday night, A wedding to attend, My soul knew only lonliness, The happy couple seeking beginnings, was I at the doorway of my end? Didn't feel festive, Though I was happy for them both, Our ship steaming up the river, All I saw was dark forbidding waters longing for my souls' betrothed. Not to stay down for long, I sought to lift the emotional bondage, I went and introduced myself to the entertainer of the night, And paid him his dues and homage. I asked if I could sing with him, For nothing but the love of music, He saw in me the fellow traveller, He would let me and give me full credit. To again hold that microphone, To sing my soul's tunes publicly, Soon washed away the threatening darkness, There is NO happier place I could be. I even got to sing some inspirational songs I love, Had the whole boat rocking and dancing, My gifts sent from above, I was back with a vengence and a happy ending. I was again reminded of all that I am, All that I am capable of being and doing, My light was shining for all to see, Twas the end of the beginnings of my undoing. All too soon the night was over, Back to the mortal realm I stole again, But now for months on end I'll be reminded, Of that magic we wove together back then. A lesson learned and I hope you shall heed it too, Find those magical gifts within yourself, Share them, revell in the gifts you were bestowed, And that can be your inspiration, a reminder of your better self. It will cleanse your soul of darkness, Steer you back towards your light, Give you the courage to face life's obstacles, And teach you not to fear the darkness of night. *Good will towards all beings is the highest religion* ~Isis~Goddess~~Sovereign of the Spirit~ |

Isis, This is sooooo great. And aptly titled! It is wonderful to see the self emerge stronger and better from a cocoon of bitterness and heartache. I love to see a person, especially a woman, find herself, her inner strength, and her self worth through the unique gifts she's been given. Well spoken! hey sis *hugs* i know how it feels to play and the strenth and happyness we get from the crowd. for as you know i to am a proformer. and i hope one day i can be one again. a celtic duet mabey my sister? great work the only thing that would have made it better is if i was there myself to give you a great big huggles. =) love you sis. and as i always say to my fellow musicians. Thanks my friends Jesse I celtic duet would be lovely hon... primeval, fulfilling etc. It is such a gift to perform and have the crowd love what you sing or play. Isis as I was reading this I could connect so much...made me think of the Christian song...is it well with your Soul...it really is true when the desires from deep within our hearts are surpressed we will not be happy and fulfilled...our beauty needs to shine...to be expressed...it is who we are...our heart and our soul...I really felt this one...James |

BRAVO ISIS!!!!!!! This was so neat and gave me so much inspiration, just like it did to you. That is, in my opinion, the mark of a great poem.....when the reader can "feel" as though they could have written it themselves, and have felt all it encompasses.
