Death colors, Trees turning yellow with fear, Coming death, Icy breath, The darkness now holds the year, Summer grieves, In red leaves, That fills the sky in falling, Cold night wind, Will then send, Orange, yellow and red rolling, Trees shudder. You have a unique way of saying winter is coming. I do like winter but always ready for summer to return. |

I have found it most ironic that such a vibrant change of colors is brought about at the time when all things begin to die. Interesting that... Well emitted here - definitely... colorful. Christopher |

I like this one. Sounds almost like a comparison between the coming of fall, and something else - problems in one's life? One's death? A collapsing society? |

Thank you,inot2B I also prefer the winter, The lessening of light and the greater shadows, But I am not looking forward to it’s return, Barely looking toward tomorrow. Thank you, Christopher, Glad you enjoyed my Autumnal rhyme. Thank you, fractal007, I didn’t intend to place extra meanings, But the wonder of poetry is interpretation. Gloom |

I definitely agree that poetry is open to interpretation. I can understand how it could be interpretated on a deeper level - mainly because death is considered a strong word to use when describing autumn...and that I think is due to the strains of pastoralism still dominating poems of nature that are written today. I like this...I like the deviation away from the common trend.. good job! K "He looked across the silky surface of the Severn... it was a famously difficult river with fierce tides..." i love autumn.even in creepy scenes such as this. there's a certain chill in the air that gets to me, and i always seem to remember my autumns... this was really nice, sensory. jann elizabeth Don't take any wooden nickels When you sell your soul -the eels |
