Suddenly I was, but could not see Where am I now? what could I be? Can’t break through the darkness, as hard as I fight I’m kicking and pushing and reaching for light Tighter and tighter this world is closing in I thought this was the beginning, but it must be the end Twisting and turning, I’ve found a way out This world is big, cold, I let out a shout Opened my eyes, now I can see I’m looking at you, you’re looking at me Crawling then walking, now learning the way From my interpretations of all that you say This world is shrinking, years pass by years My family has died, and left me in tears Old and weak now, I let out a sigh I lay down to sleep, it’s my turn to die From darkness to light to darkness again Now it’s all over, this is the end What’s this? a tunnel? at the end a light? Walking then running, I’ve regained my sight Through all that you learn, and all that you do Remember this message I have for you When you lose somebody, there’s no reason to mourn They did not die, they've just been born Love is the law, Love under will. |

This is excellent! I believ that death is indeed rebirth...I was the only one who did not cry at my Grandmother's funeral...for I knew that she was just beginning the next phase...in a much more beautiful place. In most cultures, death is actually celebrated and not mourned! This is truly a great piece.........beth "And I still believe you can never have too much fiction because reality is such a bore..." - REA |

Lady Lost -- I'm glad you liked this. This culture, however, is not about mourning death. We mourn our personal loss then celebrate their transition in to whatever world our beliefs hold. Sorry about the loss of your Grandmother, though, I'm sure her new existence is grand. Martinque -- Thank you, I tried to write it in a way that it could be interpreted in slightly different ways. carolinadreams -- We all seek peace. I'm very glad you found yours.
