Tell me. What is it in a song that makes us shed a tear or steal a smile? what is it in nature that gives us solace when we least expect it? What is it in a child that makes us think about ourselves? When you go to the fields, tell me what you see. Do you only see emptiness, a vast open space? Or do you smell the scent of the grass, brought about by the winds--kissing and touching you as they do their eternal dance? Do you feel lonely and abandoned? Or do you find comfort in its complete sincerity? Do you only hear silence? Or do you hear yourself, within-- aching to be heard, dying to be understood? Do you feel out of place? Or do you realize the beauty of it all?-- The grandness of the universe-- and you, me--no more than specks but still part of it. And exactly what part.. we do not know. Tell me. Have we dwelt in so much misery that we have forgotten how to laugh? how to smile? how to listen? how to talk? Do we ever understand each other at all? Tell me. |

This is an interesting poem. I ponder about the questions you have asked in your poem. I do not know the answer, but if i had to give one, I would say human emotions. Great work! Ronil (The sweet sound of summer sends serenity through my soul searching for that evermore solitude.) |

Your poem Highlights a very sad truth......we seem to have forgotten how to see beauty.........we only see money and such...but the beauty is still there if we look....Nice Jon |

Interesting thought...we can get so caught up in the misery, hurt and pain, that we lose our ability to laugh and smile...James |

Interesting perspective here...I like it.. and I think many of us ask these kind of questions regularly...I don't think the answers are found as easily though! Good work... ![]() |
