I'm learning to live, a day at a time
sometimes an hour or a minute is fine
I know how to hide, don't know how to shine
so I'm learning to live, while I'm in my prime

I'm learning to live, I know how to die
to take all the blame, sacrifice my pride
I know how to cover the hurt deep inside,
but I'm learning to live and to reach to the sky.

I'm learning to live with face to the sun
so my darkness goes, not wrapped in my tomb
I'm correcting mistakes made in the womb
with no power of my own, but the love of the one

I'm learning to like me a little more
accepting my failures, my consuming flaws
learning there's peace beyond personal wars
and I'm learning to trust, to open the door.

I'm learning to live, each day is a struggle
but moment by moment, though my head is spinning
praise is so heady, I'm victory winning
I'm heartsick sometimes and just need a cuddle

But moment by moment I'm forging ahead
conquering my fears, overcoming my dread
although my scars of body and soul are not dead
I'm living and learning, from others I'm fed

I'm learning to live beyond hate and pain
accept, that I'm given this life for a plan
moving horizon's and stretching the span
and I'm learning to live, all over again.

Kethry, its always a struggle, isn't it. But sounds like you are winning the battle. Great poem, like the format a lot.

"...moving horizon's and stretching the span
and I'm learning to live, all over again."

Wonderful...we all do that, some of us time and again, unfortunately.  But if we keep our heads up, as this so truly does, it's a little easier to stand.

Sandra - thanks for your kind words. They are always appreciated coming from you. Glad you liked the format I was trying something a little different but it seemed to work.

Jwesley - thank you for quoting my words back. It's always great when someone remembers long enough to do that.

Dawn - I am but a candle to your great light and I am learning from you. Thank you.

You're right Maureen, I need a training stool to get over my hurdles. Unless I have a kind someone, who can toss me over.   Luckily there are people like that at passions and yes, people to catch me on the other side. Thanks for the kind words and soft smiles, they are always welcome.

the most important thing a person can do is never stop the fight for life...your words should inspire and create hope for people...I am with you on this one all the way.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence.

James you're right about how hard it is, but hard is not impossible and in opening the door the first little bit's the hardest.
