How can one so hurtful help so much?
When all is lost, they turn to comfort you,
but does he really care at all?
or is he like the rest?...using you for everything.
Bribing you secretly with every word...
setting you up, carrying you higher and higher
whatever you do, don't let go of hope.
The deceitful one will attack the moment you do.
Letting you think it's okay to loosen your grip,
telling you that you won't fall
Damn that deceit looks so nice from afar,
but once hope is released,
he'll push you down,
Helplessly, you'll fall, right into his game,
just another pawn to protect the king,
it was so easy to reel you in, too easy really,
Told a few lies, made you believe he would help,
He let you down once, he'll do it again.
Never trust...the deceitful one.

~jaded,
i can, unfortunatly, relate to this one.
you use language very well, and i like the struture of this one.
i especially like the line;
Damn that deceit looks so nice from afar,
- it sums up the poem very well.

Same guy as in my poem, "Have a Care"! Damn he gets around. This is a good one!

Words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think.

Yes it's a hard lesson to learn, when they fail us once, we should learn and know it will happen again, but human nature, love, hope etc. then convince us to give them the benefit of the doubt and another go, and another, and another!!  Sometime though you have to stand up and shout 'No more' when you realise it is a catch 22 situation and he'll never change...  Been there, done that!!
Great stuff

in my flesh and makes

Very Nice. And the moral of the story is so true.
