Acid rains down on the earth, upon the heads of souls; and slowly, they drown. I pace back and forth, mumbling to myself. I fall to my knees, pick up a handful of dirt -full of corruption, and scatter it. I run; a cloud of dust surrounds me. Clood pours down on the earth. Spinning madly, I drop and roll in the bloody, acidic dirt. And I cry, mourning my life. Through tears, I see outstretched arms begging me to come near. Nearer and nearer I go. Hands grab at me, Dragging me back into anguish. I try to stand, my legs won't move. My heart has turned cold. But my soul leads me on... on to the outstretched arms. Kindness shines from the figure, blinding me. I stumble. I look up to see outstretched arms helping me up and holding me close. And I cry. Thunder rolls through the skies, Pure rain showers down on me, and cleanses me. Never give your heart away, it will always come back broken. ~Lil OnE~ |

Very dark and intruiging!! Wonderful! Strive for higher levels, if they seem out of reach... Grow, and they will get closer. |

I agree with thunder, but the light of hope that shines through the darkness provides an uplifting ending..one that we all strive for. Excellent work. |

I like the images in this poem, childlike, pure and innocent despite the surrounding corruption. Be well Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |
