A Trip Over Words

Dotted in yellow, landscaped in green
Like little grave markers, by the Western Run.
Sprouting new life on the old of the scene
Through leaves of yesterday, each dainty one.

They lined the highways, from north to the south
And carpeted hillsides, those daffodils did.
Forsythias stretched, forming walls all about
Building thoughts in my mind, as tears blinked from eyelids.

Lost in memories, words constant in stream
Till golden spires rose ahead in the blue.
Feeling a twinge of a loss of a dream
Words in my mind still calling to you.

By my side everywhere, I discover you're there
Standing tall, never leaning, outstretched in the air.
Reflections, my wantings, while aching inside
Just a shadow in darkness, I now shall reside.

Blossoms of flowers, words forming in haste
Touching my heart as they float passing by.
Today a puzzle, unpieced, poison laced
To never see rainbows appear in my sky.

Bent down lifted petals, inhaled sweet the scent
Silken to touch as I pressed fingers tight.
Releasing, then tossing in air, time was spent
Surrendering sad thoughts, to those of my night.

Throughout the length driven, time motioned to me
Don't ever turn back, such pain needs to cease.
Continue the travels, move forward to see
The beauty in springtime, a calmness, a peace.

By my side everywhere, I discover you're there
Standing tall, never leaning, outstretched in the air.
Reflections, my wantings, while aching inside
Just a shadow in darkness, I now shall reside.

Those feelings welled up, on the inside of me
Quitting when reaching the top of my throat.
Crawling inside myself, searching to be
The "one and only" of words which were wrote.

Was lost in those dreams, as I've traveled this road
Like that evergreen standing, so stubborn am I.
Developing films, of those scenes to reload
My memories snapped before sun sets the sky.

My mind keeps tugging and pulling my strings
Marionette-like she dances, sometimes on cue.
Comforting thoughts each becomes, each one brings
When leaving, with smiles to help ease me through.

By my side everywhere, I discover you're there
Standing tall, never leaning, outstretched in the air.
Reflections, my wantings, while aching inside
Just a shadow in darkness, I now shall reside.
