Give to me the blackness of the night Give to me the blackness of a candle burning bright Give to me a lady in her bath With the fragrance, sweetest perfume of the bubbles in her bath Give to me her love that will not heal An open wound that darkens and that festers in its zeal Give to me a scream, a cry of pain That love may be recognizable again Give to me the lamp that I may see For words wait not for sunlight in the trees Give to me the pen that I may write For words come best in the sleeplessness of night This is a very old piece, though newly revised. I just thought I'd try it out. Sing while you may -The Prophet Q'spel Your pain is for you alone, As it is, As it was, As it will be forever, Amen -The Prophet Q'spel |

I'm with you here, Ian. I love the night. Or should that be, "the dark"? Excellant. |

Quite a lot of things you want there, Darren! A great piece, as always! I suspect we all compose poems when we cannot sleep, if only in our heads. Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo |

Fantastic poem, I feel the needs. I also agree on the nighttime writing. I have to start sleeping with a pen and pad in bed with me, as I have such brilliant (lol) thoughts when I am dozing, and they disappear before I get them to paper. Catalinamoon |
