Grapes unpicked wither on the vine. Too long on the shelf, they shrivel and sour. Cradled in an oaken cask, their sweet intoxication is born. My heart waits for love, left behind to die in the dirt, picked and discarded randomly. I would be as a fine wine, cradled in the cask of strong arms and fruit tinged love. |

This is amazing. I can really relate to an unpicked grape. I especially love the last stanza. Cool. |

Dear Cat~~What a lovely piece of work! Both You and your poem...If we could all find that special someone to cradle us in the cask, the world would be a much better place...I feel your words and their meaning all too well. Thanks for the kindred thoughts. ~Sash~ |

What an original comparison! I am impressed. But you are a fine wine nonetheless, as your poetry demonstrates! Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo |

There is a sort of ambiguous dichotomy is this piece…innovative symbolism and your standard manner de facto have created a unique work. Err, good job. ---------------------- Spreading insanity, one post at a time |

~Cat,...I agree with all the others. I am sitting here shaking my head wondering how you came up with this. Very creative and expressive. Uta's right,...a fine wine indeed...which I am ever grateful to you for sharing with us. Be well S. *Peace. |

Cat, wow, excellent metaphor. Some great and dark images. "Grapes unpicked wither on the vine. Too long on the shelf, they shrivel and sour. Cradled in an oaken cask, their sweet intoxication is born". "I am melancholy, flower cutting through stone" manic street preachers |

Wow! I love this. A fine wine left on the shelf grows and develops, something to be savoured, treasured! God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown |

Cat, I agree you are truly a fine wine, and what an innovative way to compare relationships. Be Well Kethry "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- Cole |
