Her green eyes flash with anger Again, I have done nothing right She gets on the phone and laughs and smiles... Things I don't see anymore Her feet stomp up the stairs and I silently think of the time she will be out of my home... And I smile! She demands that I do this or that And I picture myself putting her up for adoption She comes in from school and cries As she she tells me her troubles... My heart aches with her pain. Her green eyes, swollen and red, stare At me in the darkness... I've had a bad dream, can I sleep with you? She crawls in, still quivering from fright I gather her into my arms, our hearts beat as one And I wish that this moment, and this daughter of mine.. Would never change. Linda Tiuch |

Linda..As the father of two daughters, I can understand this. My oldest swears I cursed her by saying, "I hope one day you have a daughter just like you". She does...and now she knows. Nice poem...and so true. Hardrock |
