Pa is what I called you, That's what you always were. You were my Grandpa, my Pa. When I was little, A big hand to hold onto A rare smile to watch out for A smell of garlic and tobacco. Although not blood-related, Related through love. A Grandpa, all the same. To grow up with You were all I knew. And then you were gone You might as well have died. For twenty years You were the Pa I held dear The only Grandpa, really That I knew. Did you know what You walked away from? Did you know what Love you left behind, Pa? Well, guess what, A part of me Hates you now, Pa oops, Wally. You're not my Pa anymore. ********************* My Nanna lived on a dialysis machine for 12 years of her life. She was a very brave and uncomplaining lady. On the first anniversary of her child's death (1989) Wally left my Nanna. Nanna died six months later. He loved the bottle more. I feel real sorry for him. He's missed out on heaps. |

~Oh this is like you unzipped your heart and let this pour out. How poignant this is. Indeed missing out is an awful shame. Thank you for sharing this. Take care. *Peace. |

Taramw, this is so heartfelt, god it hurts, it is a tragedy when we have lost a ?? family member to god knows what, I lost all my uncles to the bottle, they all died with it in there hand, and their lives were a sad escapade in lost loves. Family included. Some where in your heart you still love him. All in all it is a tragic loss to all, and to your Nanna. Anyway, thank you for answering my scream on line, it does mean a lot to most here to know that someone has heard us somewhere. Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

I too lost an uncle to the bottle, he died on a toilet floor at the pub. Terrible waste. They can't help it hon, it is an illness. My uncle went bad at the end too, I adored him and it hurt, now I look back only on the good times and love him for all he meant to me before the grog changed him, you should do the same for your Pa hon, remember the good and love his memory for that. powerful stuff here hon I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn..... ~Isis~ (Goddess - Sovereign of the Spirit) |
