THE CRUELTY OF REFLECTION Yesterday he barely woke up Shivering he looked in the mirror He watched his eyes look back in despise It reminded him of the nobody he is He ran his hands through his hair in despair And the once so cheerful boy broke down in tears Realized he'd succumed to all his childhood fears Many times he'd longed for someone to hold him A wing to hide him when the storm set in But all alone in his misery he prayed to God To forgive, forget and take him for what he was 'Cause taken for a fool he'd done so many foolish things And often he'd regret his life and wished to die During only this minute of reflection I'd become Amazingly much lower, so incredible much slower And with my loneliness manifest I turned back in shame Saddened I wished another day goodbye One more time I'd fallen from grace I'd woke up only to be detiriorated, so I went back to bed And in a state of anaesthaesia I drifted away Just another wasted day in a wasted life But one step closer to the last [This message has been edited by Broken (edited 07-30-2000).] |
