Like the silken petals, of a dying rose, tears stream d o w n a reddened face. Smears of the masque which once served -as a shield- trace along the contours of swollen cheeks. Convulsive spasms of heartbroken sobs clench and un-clench. It's a rapid motion; not unlike a- soul-shaking seizure. Gripped by this harsh reality in an uncaring, spiteful world- madness seems to beckon... ...as does death. Yet... oblivion is much crueler- a more terrible realism than the agony of aching thoughts. Life, however unprecious, however ungiving, is still life. It offers little. Is as selfish as a newborn babe. What is gained from the time given- is gained only by taking; seizing the warmth- of a summer breeze- -or embracing the love, which once was there. |
