Dear poet, please write me a verse about love I’ll write of the soft cooing song of a dove Of warmth and desires of heart’s greatest quest Of pleasures and joys as life offer’s its best Please write about sorrow, if you wouldn’t mind Sorrow is easier yet to define For it cuts to the innermost fiber and core And it lingers inside of you there evermore Can you write about justice, and honor and grace To me they’re inscribed onto every man’s face Though they’re not seen by others who haven’t much shame They are written across every brow just the same Dear poet, please write me of joy and of bliss Joy is elusive and easy to miss It’s the phantom that creeps into laughter and song And often not recognized there all along Will you write me a verse about pain, if you dare Pain is brought on by a heart unprepared It will strengthen the spirit and nourish the mind And turn back into happiness in its due time Write me a poem about minutes and time Life is to minutes, as voice is to mime An artificial device that we somehow embrace But the day true begins when the sun hits your face Tell me, dear poet, please write about fear I raised my eyes slowly and shedding a tear Said, no words could I imagine, no thought I believe Can capture the horror that fear can conceive So I laid down my pen and put paper in fold And thanked God today I’ve no fear in my soul Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 06-19-2000).] |

Elizabeth this is lovely -- With all the beautiful poems you write, this had to be a hard choice for the selection of the book -- Great choice! ~netswan (of course, I would have said that about any of your poems -) |

I loved this, it would be an awesome addition to the book ! ~Susie "If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility." ~Henry W |

Dear Liz, I think if they should ever decide to select one poet and make a book, of all the poets on this wonderful menagerie of talent, I would strongly vote for you. You are so talented, so versitale I have the utmost regard for you and believe that you give us quality every time out-making you, in my estimation to be the perfect poet- to express the poets heart & genius. You are a true & rare blessing! David |

oh, Liz, you out do yourself every time! This is exquisite! Love, Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. ellie LeJeune |
