You took it all

In the darkness, in the shadows
You might think you'd find
What once was my heart
What once was my mind

But those who knew me
In those days long ago
Would not think I'm crazy
'Cause secretly they'd know

My heart and my mind
Are both to be found
Where a cross stands crooked
Where you're buried in the ground

You took it all with you
The day we did part
And left in this body
A pacemaker for a heart.

The terrible hurt of someone you love leaving suddenly permeates this poem with sadness.

Well done poem!
