My little boy starts school today,
I know you'll be just fine.
But still I brush the tears away,
For you're no longer mine.
Your teacher now will share your day,
Your nights you'll spend with me,
You seem so young to be away
From your own family.
It seems like only yesterday
We waited for your birth.
And now you're starting on your way
To be a man of worth.
My days will now be empty,
I'll wonder how you are?
I'll wait for your return to me
With papers marked with stars.
You'll tell me how your day has been,
I'll say I missed you so,
I'll hear about your new made friends.
I know I must let go...
Yes, my little boy starts school today,
I know you'll be just fine.
And as I brush the tears away,
I'm very glad you're mine!

LTiuch~
Makes me go back to those days when
each of them started on their treks
through life ...
Lovely thoughts.
Thanks for sharing from one mom's heart
to another.

Wow, I am having a hard time typing with the tears clouding up my eyes!  My little one turns four next week...and all I can think about is that this is my last year that I will have him to myself!  This poem really touched my heart, it is wonderful!

Boy, does this bring back the memories of sending them off on that first day.  Such a touching poem, written as only a loving Mom could.  Bonnie

Thank you for your responses.  There have been several goodbyes since this first, but that seems to be the most poignant one.  Thanks again, your kind words are appreciated.  Linda
