The Spinning Moon, The Dreaming Heart

Doth the Moon spin silver threads of light,
to waken dreams of youth in sleeping night,
or quicken Love in Hearts that tread
'neath willow trees where leaves are shed ?
In Autumn darkness light will fall
through open window, 'gainst the wall.
And hush...the dew is gathered near
as though the evening sheds a tear
for soon the silver turns to gold,
the dawn doth come, the Sun is bold.
The spinning Moon, the dreaming Heart
in morning with the night they part
and waken to another day
in which the shadows stretch and play.
They reach, then meeting with all others.
   The Sun and Moon are distant brothers;
one is rising, one receding.
These words no longer need repeating
for when the night begins again,
the day, these words will have to end.

This is simply beautiful.

   the dawn doth come'

Just lovely.

I like this work a lot, Geoffrey... and any friend of Doreen's is a friend of mine... but I'd be reading your work anyway - It's quite well written, to say the least..

Thanks, Nan. Yes, it was very nice of Doreen to invite me. It warms me to meet new friends and to find that there are such high quality ( in content AND in Heart ) places such as this where people can share. Thank you for your sharing with me !

You are a very talented writer, Goeffrey! So glad you are here!

I would encourage you to go to Open Poetry Forum and post there, too. Then, select your very best works to post in this forum for the book....
this one has my vote, btw...

I'd just like to see you posting in Open, too, and giving everyone here a chance to get to know you. *smile*

Thanks Doreen, haven't gotten there yet. I guess once I hit a spot, I usually tend to stay for a while, and so far Voices has been a warm experience for me. There are so many kind people I have been getting to know. I'll get around to it. So what are the differences in the various sites ?
