My Jonah whale I have been Jonahed by a whale. Ingested like a common ale. By smacking lips and hardy slurp Assassinated by a burp. My heart was hers. A lavaliere. My words found refuge in her ear. Her finger wore my ring of dreams. Before her feet my best of schemes. Toasted in sweet wine of notions, Filled with blended lovers potions. Pledged our bridle troth forever, Swore an oath to never sever. But the lavaliere turned a yoke. And the ring of dreams turned to smoke My honeyed words ran foul her ears. And promises vanished in fears. The guillotine a sharpened why? Dropped the blade to sever the lie. Once cut the crimson flowed unpenned, Once cut our love could never mend. If end there be, then let it be, I'll sail with the whale out to sea. [This message has been edited by Seymour Tabin (edited 07-02-2000).] |
