For my husband, Taylor, with love Wild Sweet Ride Winding was that road dear when we let our hair fly and I capped the soaring fabric and you grew shaggy and we stopped and fished and then ate grilled trout and it rained almonds and sealed onions in foil perfumed the room. We honeyed with the moon and sat naked on the porch and listened to the river where forever played a tune and entwined our hearts with love songs so sweet that to this day I can taste you in the tune and bring back when I bent over the rail and hung my hair wet and unclothed into the sweet pine of the air and you said that there was gold there and I just smiled Then you took my picture and I took yours drenched in a field of scotch broom and you brought me wild flowers for the table and so we began this wild sweet ride. And now twenty years have passed and you sigh me into the morning again love, and I am fluted and full of light and breathe this smile of day for you to turn and watch. There is delicious life on these pillows that merge and the shape of your head is engraved there, this softness were my heart turns is still warm. I have curved with you into these years and watched time changing, each day’s passing to shadow, crease and color that tell me I am fragile and no longer new. But you hand me your warm words that see me still in bright love’s glow, and after time has drifted past and bathed my skin I think that maybe I am as lovely as your vision for you would not say so if dearest love had not made it true. |

Martie, I loved this! It reminds me of my own relationship with my husband! I especially liked these stanzas. There is delicious life on these pillows that merge and the shape of your head is engraved there, this softness were my heart turns is still warm. I have curved with you into these years and watched time changing, each day’s passing to shadow, crease and color that tell me I am fragile and no longer new. So beautiful...you have my vote!
