SO SOFT, YOUR GOODBYE So soft, your goodbye When I am leaving your arms So sad that I can't stay But time doesn't allow little charms When you are all alone Won't you think of me and sigh And say a prayer for me So soft, your goodbye Darkness clouds my eyes As I climb upon my horse I will ride the dusty plains My soul filled with remorse For I am leaving you today With a tear in my eye Going without a word more So soft, your goodbye When you lay down at night Don't forget my smile Whisper through the starlit sky As I travel another mile My heart aches for you Though I know I won't cry Because I've left here before So soft, your goodbye In my dreams I have seen Brothers in arms climbing the mountainside Playing with you in the fields Hiding my secrets inside As I leave I grow weary Of the hopes I saw go by And I miss you so much So soft, your goodbye When I am old I will Think of you and cry But nonetheless I left you For a better place to lie And when I find my home I will be the first to fly Back to where the sun shines So soft, your goodbye So soft, your cheeks as I kiss The face I knew so well Until I come back my love Won't you ring that bell For as I wander the night becomes nigh And I hear the ancient sigh Of the world as I pass through, thinking of you So soft, your goodbye |

ChristopherJ~ What a lovely entrance to our family of friends and poets. WELCOME ! Goodbyes should always leave softly ... and hopefully return as a hello someday. Hope to read more from you. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Beautiful poem CJ, I can picture two lover's sweet soft goodbye in my head with every verse.
