A Thirsty ThiefFor sorrow is a thirsty thief who drains her heart of tears He waits until the day's relief, and with the night, appears He creeps, familiar, to her rooms and slips into her bed And when she lies for slumbering he whispers in her head A dream, she thinks, has wakened me and now I cannot rest While sorrow snickers silently from out his pillow nest |

Just dropped back to say....I always love your poem titles....they are so inviting... just for the fun of it have you ever considered going back over all of your titles and trying to write a poem about them...I'm just enjoying the morning and enjoying doing some reading at Passions....it's just an idea? |

ethome, thank you for including my poem in your morning enjoyment. As to your inquiry, the thought of making a poem out of my titles actually had never occurred to me, but it is an interesting idea. Don't know when I'd have a chance to do it, but perhaps some day... Denise, thank you, friend. Bill, Good evening...thank you for reading this. We must do our best to outsmart the thief, my friend...take care with your memories. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Paula, Sudhir...thank you both for letting me know you read and appreciated the message of this little poem. Grief is capable of fierce thievery, to my way of thinking. Thankss very much. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

ThUnDeRkYsS, thank you for taking time to read and comment. It is unfortunate that you can relate to the content of this piece, but also gratifying that folks are able to understand how I chose to depict sorrow here. Thanks again for the encouraging note. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |
