I've prayed for many things
as the years went by.
Many of which I've never seen
and I often wondered why.

I wanted to live out west
where life was a little more free.
And after moving several times
I came to rest in Tennessee.

I dreamed of an eternity
with that guy I knew in school.
He strung me along, broke my heart.
Lord, I felt like such a fool.

I wished for flowing, golden hair
and alabaster skin.
Instead I have raven tresses
and eyes as dark as sin.

So I began to ponder
the cruelty of it all.
Was fate simply setting the stage
intending to watch me fall?

Then one day, just out of the blue,
I looked across a crowded room.
With one piercing glance from you
my heart began to boom.

Suddenly it all made sense
and I knew that I'd been blessed.
This loving man from Tennessee,
I would have never met out west.

He is nothing like the one
I thought I loved way back when.
In my heart of hearts I know
I'll never be alone again.

Golden locks and eyes of blue
in his dreams will never be.
For he longs to look into eyes
as dark as a stormy sea.

Though I did not understand
why God wouldn't give me a sign.
To this day I am so grateful
He did it His instead of mine.

--You can either take me as I am...or you can watch me as I go.--

"Some of God's greatest gifts
Are unanswered prayers. . . "

Just running through my head while I was reading this. . .

Wonderful Tennessee Angel. . . indeed He has his own plans for us. . .although we may not see it right away, in time, the answers do come. . .

Superb. . .

Oh, Tennessee Angel....

This needs to go to the front of
the pack! It has such a timeless
message, and one that is so easily
forgotten. We can't always see what
lies at the end of the road, we just
have to walk it in faith!

               Wonderful writing!!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

Hi Angel,
A very stirring poem that tells a wonderful story. Congradulations, and I wish you the best.
