Phrases "Please breathe", the words snake past my heart. Your hands remains cold & still as I stare in desperation. "Its time to go", where? I look at her father. He seems to hestiate, then turns and falls apart. "I'm sorry", the nurse seems to laugh. I don't understand, why was she choosen? "Taken to early" the preist tries to preach, standing on his mighty throne while I sit below..... dying. "Dust-to-Dust", as scattered flowers fall, she slips slowly away, beneath the earth now to stay. "Its alright to cry". Voices in a smear of pain. They all try to comfort me but I am already lost & forgotten. |

DanielW~ This is a tender piece of sorrow. When one's leaving touches our hearts so deeply ... we turn to others for compassion and to our memories for comfort. You've expressed the phrases well ! ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ noles1@totcon.com |

Daniel, I thank you for sharing this poem here...it moved me, on a personal level. So often, the phrases that we hear, though said as a means by which to comfort, seem to make little sense at such an intense time of loss. Please keep writing ~ ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

I read this over and over so many times before I could respond...so many times that to trite phrase is just the easiest one to say...words dont come easy when you are in pain and we tend to stay with the tried and true statements we have heard all of our lives....I am glad i could bring this one back to the top |
