Gambling Hearts From the path we chose I have no regrets Though there was the promise of a passion filled spurt We looked within our hearts and pulled our bets We turned our back removing the chance For upon the table was an ante of hurt We waited to gamble and denied the fire We held strong to hope to have the resolve Glancing about the room ignoring our desire Hearts resting empty is the safe bet tonight By playing the odds a friendship would evolve No losses tonight as we walk away By not gambling in haste we reap what is due We pocketed our compulsions knowing what to say Character of strength is the pot we won Investing friendly words of I love you Mark Bohannan [This message has been edited by Mark Bohannan (edited 08-09-2000).] |

By playing the odds a friendship would evolve .. We pocketed our compulsions knowing what to say Character of strength is the pot we won .... Wonderfully written Mark... you surely shine so brightly with this one... regards, sudhir |

Mark... You don't have to be a gambler for this to have a powerful effect on you! Loved this one, and I do like to take an occasional chance on a long-shot!! This one is not a long-shot... it's more like a sure thing!! Nice work, Mark!! I have but one goal in life......It is: Not to have just one goal in Life!! ~ ~ ~ Sunny ~ ~ ~ |

A poem right from your heart, Mark...sometimes the flame can kill, or at least burn down the gambling hall...making choices is sometimes just a matter of a watering can. I really like this poem! |

One way was a sure bet to Bust.....the other was a Jackpot! Hearts resting empty is the safe bet tonight By playing the odds a friendship would evolve No losses tonight as we walk away By not gambling in haste we reap what is due Character of strength is the pot we won Investing friendly words of I love you No sweeter words when they are from a friend of the heart...They don't come everyday...and when they are found they are to be cherished...It's a love that expects nothing and gains everything....Wonderfully done...Words of sunshine once again ![]() |

From the path we chose I have no regrets Though there was the promise of a passion filled spurt We looked within our hearts and pulled our bets We turned our back removing the chance For upon the table was an ante of hurt We waited to gamble and denied the fire We held strong to hope to have the resolve ===================== By playing the odds a friendship would evolve No losses tonight as we walk away By not gambling in haste we reap what is due We pocketed our compulsions knowing what to say Character of strength is the pot we won Investing friendly words of I love you =================== so poetically beautiful Mark ... and I love the gamgling hearts metaphor a perfect anology... and the best relationships are the ones built on a foundation of friendship most of the time "love" and "desire" fade.. but true friendship based on a mutual respect lasts much longer. another beauty from that cowboy-poets heart sincere and sweet. later-love-roulette-gator LOL JM |

Sudhir-Thank you so much....the shine comes from the love "IN" friendhip. Sunny-Yes, it was a sure thing and the winnings are already in the bank and growing interest...Thank you for your ever kind words. Marcy-The words of love were a safe bet in the fact that IN love was seen to be bad odds. The love was a sure thing. Thank you for the beautiful and I am glad you liked the analogy. Cathy-great to have you back among us...thanks for your sweet words. love ya. Martie-It was an almost certain blaze of all blazes that would have desroyed the casino for sure. The casino is safe, the reward has been given and all are happy with the outcome and yes it was from the heart deeper than you might imagine. Thank you so much as once again you have brought a smile to my face. Holly-The largest jackpot in gambling history from the way I see it....and I see pretty well. ![]() ![]() ![]() JM- You know this ole cowboy--nothing ever fades with me especially when it comes to puttin up or shuttin up.LOL I am so glad to see your name here as always and you know I thank you from the depths of my heart. And you know that with me the respect is a sure thing. hugs baby. |

Every step of the way is a gamble, the older we get the higher the stakes. Do we take the chance and never feel regret? Hardly, it's against human nature not to wonder about paths not taken, but still, we just do what our hearts and heads tell us. Good food for thought here! Corinne |

hoot_owl_rn*** who in their right mind wouldn't? Glad to know your wits are about ya!!! Corinne-I am always happy to feed a poet in hunger. The paths are not always simple ones and some seem harder than most but if we just take what is in our hearts and use it wisely then most of the time it's not a gamble at all.......as in this case. ![]() serenity-I hope they didn't mind...do ya think they will?lol Thank you so much for your always sweet replies....and to think I thought I was playin cards....hhhhmmm dice huh? Well that may be another story in it's self. Bill-I am so glad you stopped....who do you think all them casino girls were for???? I thought they might get you in here. ![]() ![]() Balladeer-Always a pleasure to have you around....I too have waited many many many years for this game and well once in awhile if you play long enough you hit the jackpot. ![]() ![]() |

What a beautiful analogy here Mark. You have given all men a good name here, not that they had a bad one before, just now better. I need to tell you that I have read your work and all of your beautiful comments you give to people and you are a beautiful person, inside and out. Very lucky lady you have and I am sure she knows it. This a beautiful poem about listening to whats in your heart.....Thank You. ![]() Jenn E |

ethome--Thank you so much kind poet...I am happy you liked. Jenn E--Men have a bad name? no way....yesssssss way...we sort of deserve it though as we can be so barbaric at times. Your comments make me blush and she is only a friend as we both made the right decision without telling the other a month ago or so and decided not to take it further as we knew in our hearts that though the passion would be way too hot to mention it would not have been able to last due to some circumstances beyond our control.....like you wanted to hear all that...but in a nutshell that is where this came from and now we are bestest buds and family.................... |
