Magnificence As planets of the sky align And blacken face of moon sublime No words emerge from out my lips To tell the wonder of eclipse As slowly by the shadow went I only said -”Magnificent!” The Himalayas’ snow capped peak Of wonder and adventure wreak So high that God unkindly shrouds The glorious peak in misty clouds The wicked slopes men’s lives have spent This mountain called Magnificent The pyramids in layered tiers Stood gallantly four thousand years As treasures from their crypts unfurled We called them wonders of the world An act of man, but heaven sent These monuments - Magnificent A lowly ant crawls on the ground A little speck but duly bound He bears a load of needed freight Twenty-five times his body weight The little creature’s quite a gent In fact, I’d say, Magnificent! The wonders that most mystify Are based on where you place your eye [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 08-06-2000).] |

The wonders that most mystify me are these poems that pour out of you like a fresh water fountain in the early morning sunshine. Just a delightful rendering of the many magnificent things that surround us, as you say, based on where you place your eye... Great work Elizabeth........ethome.. |

Yes, the smallest things are sometimes also the most miraculous. Great poem ![]() "A clay pot sitting in the sun will always be a clay pot. It has to go through the white heat of the furnace to become porcelain." --Mildred W. St |

Liz, your refreshing approach to life's treasures is inspirational, indeed. Another grand creation here, my friend. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Elizabeth~ Well, if you rise at the crack of dawn and have nothing better to do with your time - I guess you could just crank out a beautiful poem like this !
