she dabbed at the sprinkles and asked me why but I had no answers and when she started to sob because she needed someone to, I listened and I watched as she soaked up the tears and then wrung the tissue round and round her finger, but I couldn’t watch as the existence she had come to know fell apart so I looked down and closed my eyes and held onto my own denial. For survival's sake complacency does argue against its existence with softly numbing reasons and when it loses it gives up hard. I knew her sniffles were only a sprinkling of the storm of emotions that realization brings the howcouldI's the whydo's and whydon'ts whirl and tear and its not an easy storm to weather this was hers to sink or swim not mine no not mine not yet... my life is fine... I watched her sob a million miles away from me I saw her pain but I wanted her no closer I listened only because she needed me to and I wrung the tissue round and round my finger and dabbed at at the sprinkles that were starting to fall |

And let's hope it never is yours. This is such a sweet tale of sadness. The tender caring of one trying to comfort the pain of another. Wonderful read |

Isn't it amazing how rapidly we crumble when the dam of denial starts leaking? *S* This is wonderful... even if liberally sprinkled with pain. *S* |
