Storm Tossed, Safe Haven?

How many times have I ignored
The pain of living this soul-less life
The unutterable dispair of living
As a prisoner, of living this lie
For the sake of our family
I've pushed your indifference aside
Struggling to keep our home
A safe and secure haven for all
A place where no blame or hurt
Could enter and bring harm
I've overlooked your faithlessness
Felt and bled under each and every
Shaft or your hurtful taunts
Never reacting with spite, or anger
Given my every waking thought
To surviving this perilous voyage
Where my heart and soul have suffered
As they were tossed and broken by storms
Withered in frozen darkness

Now finally I've reached a haven
Of my own, a sheltered bay
Where I can recover my lost soul
And patch and mend my broken life
Our family have disembarked
Unaware of the trials I have
Willingly weathered for them
Now it's time for me
A time to find my own destiny
To leave behind the shattered fragments
Of my hopes and dreams,
To rebuild my life, to start anew
Maybe I'll feel the sun of love
Perhaps I'll know what it's like
Living free of spirit, to soar
On azure wings high into the heavens
To sing my own clear song
Maybe that song will fade, maybe not
But at least I'd have tried.

One step at a time and it looks like you are taking them....as long as you are going forward.  I have no doubt that you will one day glow in YOU as you already shine.  Lovely verse and the voice of your positiveness is very evident...hope you hear it as well as we do.

Thank you Mark for your kind words. As you say one step at a time, and with each step I'm moving on. I'll get there in time.

Hello Marsha.
Such a heart-rendering testimony
or your strength and dreams.
Good luck to you. I hope you
may reach YOU...your destiny

Such incredible expression Marsha! The descriptiveness within your words brings forth the difficulties and sorrow you've suffered, and yet the positiveness that flows through is equally as powerful. Really well done!

Best wishes and hugs to you,
/Kit

Dee thank you so much, I do know what I have to do, I do know when it's time to do it. It's not that it's difficult, it is but it's not that. It's that it's so difficult to say I want and I need. Still I've said it now, and as the house of cards falls down around my ears, at least I've made a stand.
Take care, as for your far too kind words, I thank you even though I don't deserve them.
