As the fire dies and the chill sets in
The shiver of alone runs across my skin
There are no arms to hold me tight
No soft whispers in the night

The stars don’t sparkle for just one
There is no glow from setting sun
Silence screams within the night
Within the darkness free from sight

So easy in the light of  day
To push these thoughts away
But when the lovers moon shines high
Through my soul I hear  good-bye

All the dreams were washed to sea
Trust and love became a memory
The feel of your hand upon my face
Try as I might it just won’t erase

As the fire dies and darkness calls
It’s time to step beyond the walls
The last embers of fire refuse die without a fight
Just like your memories that burn each night

Oh, Butterflies...this is a lonely one, but very beautifully written. I hope you are not feeling this way, as butterflies should never be sad.....they are much too beautiful.

Memories left to burn to dust
Among all the pain of what was lost
Replaced with a love which is just
One that will hold you at any cost

My sweet butterfly.....It is so nice to have you fighting past all of your ghosts so that you may soar upon the winds with a smile.  I will now give you some stars that sparkle just for you...and you alone until it is time for them to be shared.

Butterflies dc beautifully writen and straight from your heart. Soon you'll soar above it all, until then warm hugs and soft smiles. Take care!

Butterflies--One of the marvelous things about hearts is they can be mended with love...it comes from the inside out and the outside in...and there you are, complete again.

Beautiful poem from the heart!  Hugs!

Hun, this is a beautifully penned poem and so sad to read, but still so captiviating with your expression and flair.  I often feel this way and that is why this poem touched me deeply. Hugs to you my friend, and I truly hope that in writing this poem it has given your soul solace and release.  And the title is excellent - that's what drew me in

Take care,
Melissa Honeybee

One must be careful with embers. . . they do burn. . . like the heart. . . the sadness is evident here. . .

Excellent. . .

Butterflies, this is so forelorn...wonderfully sad words, exquisitely woven.  Exellent, I enjoyed!

BDC,

I can feel your lonliness and sadness here my friend.  It is always tough to let go of the memories that we hold dear, but we must to move on.  Not an easy thing to do at all.  You will make it.  I know it.

well...you know that i know...(yea yea)
this is a sad but awesome poem girlie girl,
awesome in its ryhme and cadence...
(read this gem aloud and it sings)
and as for the emotions...
YOU KNOW......
our wings grow stronger with every stroke
of our pen
love ya
me

There are places inside our souls -
that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.

my favorite lines, because I can relate, but, of course, the rest of the poem was excellent!  I am definitely going to read it a few more times!!

Butterfly soaring alone tonight
Didn't think that she could take flight
But she found the strength to fly real high
Now she's free and can reach the sky

Into the darkness she chases a dream
Of butterfly kisses and a sunny day beam
So fly away butterfly hold on tight
Never give in always put up a fight

For a chased dream
is one that can be found
Hold on tight
don't touch the ground
Until you have reached
The never ending light
That is firmly locked
within your sight

Butterflies have wings
That can take them anywhere
Here's to you sweet butterflies
Take care
