Young Love

Young love brief as a whisper of wind
not to stay, this blustery day
passions ran deep, swift as a river
intense was this look of love
meant to be, for a time
hopes of tomorrow, but a dash

The fire in her heart, was more than a dash
a flame to burn, not ceased by the wind
or lost somewhere in space and time
she waits for his return, maybe this will be the day
does his heart burn with this same love?
does not love flow like a river?

The heart knows no end to a river
passions kiss, taste more than a drop or dash
there is no greater love
love never dies, no matter the wind
still, she waits to this day
all she has for now, is time

Years pass, not mellowed by time
storms brought another river
her life flowed, day after day
still needing love, more than a dash
caught a piece of love in the wind
her scattered heart needed more love

Is there no heart left to bleed for love?
with time comes only more time
daily tossed about by the wind
longing for love, swift as a river
deeper than a drop in a bucket or dash
still, she waits for at least one more day

The sunsets in her life, she needs a brighter day
no matter the age, all need love
even if only in part, or a wee dash
each passing day brings an end to time
a circle of love is like an endless river
not ended by storms, or wind

Still there's time to dream each day
of a swift river that ran for my first love
passion more than a whisper of wind, or mere dash

whew!  Rose - ya gotta turn down the heat in here, fer crying out loud!  This is incredibly sweet.  I really like the flow and the transitions, too.

Beautiful flow of your thoughts and I wonder why Love journeys the way it does...James

A blending of romance and a sestina is one monumental effort - You've done a nice job here - Let's bring it around again..

Deb-

Sestinas are far from easy - you've done a terrific job on this - I loved it!

~Live all you can; it's a mistake not to. It doesn't so much matter what you do in particular, so long as you have your life. If you haven't had that, what have you had?
