I live in the house of the enemy...
I found this out only last night...
I used to think this wasn't such a bad place,
But now it is rather a fright...

I sleep in the house of the enemy...
There's nothing more, really, to say...
I gave myself reasons a long time ago,
When I did not know I should not stay...

I work in the house of the enemy...
Signed on twenty years and a day
My domestic efforts are done without notice,
And certainly done without pay...

I'm stalked in the house of the enemy...
I can't do a thing that's my own...
He followed me here, then he made it real clear,
I've no privacy in my own home...

You ask why I live with the enemy...
I will answer you best as I can...
I am jobless, you see, and I need surgery,
And I have to survive where I can...

If you find you're stuck with an enemy...
Who used to be your closest friend...
If your circumstance gives you one little chance,
To get out.....

Then get out while you can!!

Today is a gift....
That is why they call it
'the Present'!

O Sunny....how much I can relate to this...only I can't decide WHY I even stayed in the beginning....but eventually get out I did..and I love the word you chose...enemy..because in essence as long we lived together that is what we were to eachother....anyway..before it turns into a BOOK...Great post I loved it!!!

This poem flows very well.  I like the recurring theme (not so very much the situation you find yourself in).

A little time ago I discovered that my greatest enemy was myself.  Once I started making peace with him, my other enemies held less sway over me.  Naturally, Lorelei had a great deal to do with that discovery.  I hope you find peace with all your enemies soon.

Your words of inspiration will stay with me while I ponder that same thought. Thank you for writing one that hit my heart.

Gemini...
I hope you aren't having to go through this....
                thank you for being here!

Bonnie...
Not all of life's situations are easy ones, so you learn to roll with the punches. I appreciate being in your thoughts!

Oh dear, Sunny, this sounds like things are going from bad to worse. What's up? This poem conveyed my life in a nutshell, and I know how hard it is. I hope you can escape soon..
Thinking of you, my friend.

oh my - what a helluva predictament to be in.
like being up that old creek without a paddle.
I'd seek outside assistance- some one or some group - ought to be able to help - this is the wrong kind of dependancy -
btw great writing ~S~

Run and don't ever look back.  Hope this is not a real life situation for you right now.  Written with the punch it needs to wake up those that are lost.  Wonderfully penned.

my my i havent been in the open forum for so long and of the many peoms i have read, i have to wonder if this is fictional poetry?  i hope it is
the content is so strong...especially this...

If you find you're stuck with an enemy...
Who used to be your closest friend...
If your circumstance gives you one little chance,
To get out.....

i can not relate to such a poem, but i surely can tell you that i feel it...good work sunny....but i hope its only fictional poetry

Sunny, I have the same problem, my health, and a simple surgery to turn my life around again...been there, done that..the surgery was a disaster, so..you've given me a new perspective-and you're right--it is my enemy! Not all doctors botch surgeries..so maybe it's time I readdress my issue & put that baby to bed.  Great poem. Love, Marcy

Sunny

Beautiful poem - words flowed into a story.  If this is a situation that you are going through, and I sense that it is, I can only pray for God to give you the strength to help you to a better life.  Keep your chin up.

Hi Sunny,
You have expressed yourself and the happenings going on in your life in this poem. As I read into it, I could feel some of what you are going through. I'm very sorry that this is happening to a woman with such a tender heart as yours. Hang in there Sunny, things will change for the better, believe it and they will. Best to you.

JnR4eva....
This will be the first time I've ever said that I'm glad that you can't relate to this!!  Stay happy, and above all, stay free.    Thank you, too....

Marcy....
Then you truly know what I'm saying with this work.....Bless you. And thank you so much for your reply!

Didi.....
You always make my heart feel good with your loving words of caring....I'm glad to be able to get to know you!!

Butterflies.....
My intent was not to make a beautiful butterfly cry........dry your tears, dear, and it will be ok!!

Hello Bill....
Ahhh...but the ones with the tender hearts wear them on their sleeves, and cannot help but to have them broken....they are like easy targets.  Even with this, I cannot put my heart back into the closet.    Thank you for caring........
