Shark.

Standing on the public jetty
feeling lonely and down,
when I hear "How ya doin'?
What's caused that frown?"
Two fishermen were sitting there
having a great old time.
Just laughing and drinking
while they're wetting a line.
"We caught a shark today",
as he rummages in his bag.
Lays the shark on the ground
then begins with his gag.
"Don't make any sudden moves,
I'm warning you, alright?
He's a trained attack shark
that's not afraid to bite."
I look down at my feet to see
this shark's only hours old.
It's as dead as a doornail,
lying there still and cold.
When the laughter and the chat is over
I leave there with a smile
because of two fishermen
who befriended me for a while.
So when I'm feeling sad
or life seems too dark,
I'll remember that day,
those fishermen and that shark!
