Christmas Downunder is all turned around.
BBQ's, beach parties, such things abound.
We wear shorts and bathing suits, T's and thongs
and start our Summer the does seem so long.
The temps at least 30, 80 for Yanks
and the biggest fashion statement is a top call a tank.

Snow don't exist at this time of year.
In fact it's a time to break out the surf gear.
We sit around the barbie; have a tinny or two
then after the meal spend hours in the loo.
It's hot, it's sticky and we all look a sight
trying our best to make the blow flies take flight.

But when Christmas day dawns in the hot summer heat,
we're all in the kitchen. Cooking roast meat.
We serve up the food in traditional way
and observe the traditions of this special day.
There's reefs on the door and lights on the trees,
and snow filled ornaments as far as can see.
We stand under mistletoe and wait for a kiss,
and although it's plastic, this tradition can't miss.
We sing Christmas carols and tell tales of the past
hoping again that the spirit will last.
As for presents, well we give and receive
Poking and prodding them before Christmas eve.
A child's eyes still light up at the food and the toys
and that's the look for all to enjoy.

Though Christmas is in summer and it's not cold and wet
We celebrate like you, you really can bet.
And not matter what the weather outside
inside it's Christmas the whole world wide.
