Kicking up the Gold Dust

This is a hard time for you I know
You feel you’ve lost me and can’t let go
Let go of your pain, dry up your tears
I’ll see you again, no need for fear.

I’m with my Savior from up above
He’s showering me now with his everlasting love
There’s no more sadness, there’s no more pain
Only great things in Heaven for me to gain.

I walked through the pearly gates
Jesus met me with a smile
Now we’re kicking up the gold dust
For miles and miles.

I’m kicking up the gold dust
In my wings of white
No darkness here
Only God’s shining light.

I’m joined again with loved ones
That I’ve lost throughout the years
But, we’re together again
And there are no more tears.

Picture me kicking up the gold dust
In Heaven above
With Jesus and all the others
That with my heart I do love.

Someday you’ll see me again
Oh, what fun it will be
Kicking up the gold dust
You and me.

(Note:  When my mother was killed in a car wreck, she had a feeling 3 months prior that she was going to die and left us a letter saying if we insisted on having a funeral that she wanted only “Happy Songs”.  One song she listed we couldn’t find and it was called “Kicking up the Gold Dust”.  I then decided to create my own years later and this was the result.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it.)

I am so sure that she loved this even more.  Your poems are so inspirational and so full of peace to those whom have lost in this life.  You give such a promise of tranquility it is hard not to love this and I admit it.   I loved it much.

Mark Bohannon - Again my many thanks for your words.  I was so happy when I wrote this and smile every time I read it.  My mother would have loved it, I'm sure.

SEA - Thank you for stopping in and reading.  Your compliments are very much appreciated.

BY THE WAY - DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO RESPOND TO PEOPLE RESPONDING ABOUT YOUR POETRY WITHOUT HAVING TO POST A REPLY.  I HATE NOT TO RESPOND BACK, YET FEEL SUCH GUILT WHEN IT THROWS MY WORK BACK UP TOP.

Hi Susan this is a wonderful poem...so full of love and hope..
Ha..ha..Susan you are funny...If one person likes your poem they respond and then it goes to the top to give someone else a chance to enjoy it before it disappear quite rapidly to pages 2, 3, 4, and so forth.  Due to time limitations I often only read the poetry on page one...sometimes if I have more time I move back farther...so consider it an honor to be on page one...James

Susan - nWhat a terrific tribute to your mother - it's like saying, "Don't worry Mom, whatever you want, I'll make sure it happens."  Thank you for providing the perspective on this poem.

As for reading the poems on page one, I'm learning to head for the last pages and work my way back up.  In that way, I don't miss some of these gems that I missed in my absence.

You may use the email addy's that accompany each person's post if you need to reply, but don't want your poem back on page one.

Susan this is a great tribute to your mother and a good poem. Now that I know where to find you I'll look for more of your work

Be well
Kethry.

gathers the flowers weaves the garland."-
